I notice that TV input display shows PC as a connected device, while PC does not show TV as being connected. This suggests that there is no fault with the HDMI cable, the problem is in the PC.
I can't now find the shorter cable, which is a mystery. Does anybody have any further suggestions?
I moved home four months ago. In my previous home I occasionally used the TV as a second monitor for my PC. As the distance between PC and TV is now more than in my old home, I today bought a longer...

Re recommendation to post Boot Info summary. I ran 'recommended repair' but all it does is refer me to paste2.org, which is not a boot info summary. Do you mean to change partition booted to sda5,...

I upgraded from Ubuntu 18.04 to 20.04 yesterday. Now the login screen pops up on my second monitor (smart TV linked by HDMI cable). Once logged in, desktop correctly appears on first monitor. I have...
Please ignore my previous message. My issue is now resolved. When I ran boot repair before, I failed to set partition booted by MBR to the Ubuntu partition.
I ran fixparts and e2fsck commands as recommended, and ensured fast start up in Windows is turned off, but still no GRUB menu. Here is a screenshot from live DVD:

The problem is now fixed, and the solution was quite simple. Using GRUB Customizer, check the line 'GRUB GFX Mode'. The menu is now visible.

I have uninstalled - reinstalled Thunderbird, and this has resolved the problem.
I uninstalled - reinstalled Ubuntu 18.04 yesterday. This is dual boot with Windows 8.1. I have been unable to reinstate the GRUB 2 menu. When I run the Boot Repair utility, the GRUB tab is greyed...
I uninstalled & reinstalled Ubuntu 18.04 yesterday. Now Thunderbird won't display the inbox. I have seen a post under General Help from 2018 about this problem and the suggested solution was to...
